Legislation such as Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is driving larger consumers of electricity to reduce their power consumption, and therefore carbon footprints. Other drivers such as costs (UK electricity costs increased by 130% between 2002 and 2008); customer pressure and peer pressure are also driving an increasing focus on carbon.
However, whilst implementing alternative technology will deliver first year savings, ongoing savings will only be delivered through behavioural change. Unfortunately, many companies are focusing almost entirely on "changing the light bulbs".
